Installation - You are invited to a Service of Installation for Reverend Michael Jannett as Pastor of Advent Lutheran Church, Sunday, February 12th, at 4pm. The Rev. Dr. Delmer Chilton, Asst. to the Bishop, will preside at the installation. There will be a dinner following the service.
Souper Bowl of Caring: February 5th is the annual national "Souper Bowl of Caring." The focus of this event is to raise funds for local charities. ACT (Advent Christian Teens) will be on hand to collect your donations of money or non-perishable food items. They will also collect money and food items for PAWS. Please bring your donations to church with you, and look for youth holding big soup pots!
Kroger Fundraising - We did it! In nine months of fund raising with Kroger, we were able to top the $3000 mark! Our November payout was $339.85. That brings our total to $3,087.85. Continue to use your card for gas and gift cards...and start looking ahead to buying your Valentines cards and candy at Kroger. If you are interested in purchasing a Kroger gift card or have any questions, please contact Janelle Gehrke or the church office.
New Member Classes - New Members Classes will be on Sunday, February 19 and Sunday, March 4, 5-7 pm. We would like potential new members to join us for both sessions, so that we can begin to build and strengthen relationships between current and potential members. We will be receiving these new members during the worship services on Sunday, March 11th.
First Communion Class - We will be offering a class for anyone who is ready to receive their first communion at the Lord's Table. Pastor Jannett will lead classes on Saturday, March 3 and March 10 at 9:30 am. The first meeting will include the parents. The second will end with the children making communion bread. Prayer Shawls - Please join us every Tuesday at 10am for Prayer Shawl Knitters. We are currently working on Linus Project blankets and Scarves for Soldiers. Please contact the office if you have questions.
Spirit Night - We will have a spirit night at Chick Fil A on February 27th from 5pm - 8pm. If you order, please say you are with Advent Lutheran Church so some proceeds will be donated to the church.
Volunteers Wanted: Did you know 2012 will be the 50th Anniversary of Advent? The golden anniversary is a major milestone and whether we celebrate traditionally or mix it up with some non-traditional plans, we're going to need people and ideas to make it a year of joyous celebrations. Cell Phone Recycling: Bring in your old cell phones, batteries and cords. Rick Racker has offered to turn them in and donate the proceeds to our youth. There is a collection box in the Narthex for you to place the items. Please follow the instructions on the placard and we will get them turned in.
Youth Event: Nashville Cluster Confirmation Retreat, Sunday January 29th, 2:30-7pm. The focus of this event will be Holy Communion. We are inviting all 6th - 8th graders from Advent to attend. It will be hosted at First Lutheran Church in Nashville.
Young Retirees: January 21st, 11:30am, Young Retirees will meet at Blue Restaurant, 810 NW Broad St #222, Murfreesboro. Please RSVP to Judy Stephens.
In-Betweeners: The group will meet at Coach's Grill (127 SE Broad St.) on January 21st at 7: 00 pm for a night of fun and great music. The band playing is the Gravel Road Gypsies. They play classic and Southern Rock. Any questions contact Cheryl Mistretta.
